Come and experience Christmas and New Year at Pear Tree Farm in the best of traditional styles – two nights of feasts and festivities for up to
eight guests. The house looks spectacular in its Christmas finery and can be all yours for two whole days. We even provide a glass or two of Tanners Special
Reserve champagne to help you get into the festive mood.
Our beautiful 17th century home is yours for the festive season – the
Christmas tree and room decorations, lovely bedrooms and bathrooms,
roaring log fires, the small but perfectly formed wine list, fabulous
country walks and all the gourmet food you could dream of.

Whatever the weather is doing, snow or frost, rain or shine, the house
is welcoming and warm. Your Christmas present begins the moment
you arrive on the afternoon of Christmas Eve.
Settle in to your rooms and then come down for Tea (or
Mulled Cider!) and home-made mince pies served by a roaring fire in the Sitting
Room. |
 |
 |
|
Spend the next hour or two relaxing with a good book or a game of
cards, Monopoly, Scrabble, Charades, or whatever takes your fancy.
Perhaps you might like to browse through our extensive library to find a
reading for Christmas Night...
...or even just relax to some good
music and the quiet contemplation of the next day’s pleasures, not least
of which will be Jill's fabulous home-made traditional brandy-steeped
Christmas Puddings (pictured left).

A three course supper in the
Dining Room follows early evening cocktails, which come with our
compliments. The rest of the evening is devoted to final Christmas
preparations, perhaps Midnight Mass at St Laurence Church in Ludlow,
putting presents under the tree, carol singing around the piano (you’re
playing cos we can't!) or just getting an early night.
Christmas Day awakens with a traditional country house style Kedgeree
breakfast, setting you up for the rigours of the day ahead. A few hours
free lets you explore the wild winter Wigmore landscape, its castles and
forests, lakes and rivers, to blow away the cobwebs.
A glass of champagne and canapés greet your return and a four course
Christmas lunch gets underway at whatever time you choose – a free range
traditional feast using the best of our local ingredients, all home made
of course down to the brandy mincemeat in the mince pies! |

Christmas tea and Christmas cake at whatever o’clock
bridge the gap ‘til a late supper – home made bread and stilton with a
glass of port and PTF apple and cider chutney.
The evening is yours with wild weather outside, the lights turned down
low, swapping ghost stories, playing charades or entertaining each other
with specially chosen readings from any of our 1000 or so books.
Boxing Day sets you up for the journey home with a full English brunch
including prize winning Olde English sausages, Steve’s bread made with
Bacheldre Mill organic flours and our own range of jams, jellies and
preserves. Freshly squeezed orange juice, garden fruit compote and
locally supplied fair trade coffee complete a truly substantial
breakfast.
There’s time for a walk up to Wigmore’s ancient ruined castle before or
after brunch before you finally head for home with fond Christmas
memories fresh in your mind. Until next year …and all this is yours for
only £2000. |
